Cardinal Dolan “White House strangling Catholic church”; White House responds

5-23-12 Posted by Admin in Blog, Religious Liberty 3 Comments

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, talks to CBS This Morning’s Charlie Rose and Erica Hill about the lawsuit filed by 43 Catholic organizations over the Obama administration violating our religious liberties.

Then White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded to Cardinal Dolan’s comments by continuing to misstate how the mandate affects Catholic institutions omitting the impact on self-insured entities and how policies are written.

  1. Let me say that the White House would rather make us serve Mammon rather than God. You can’t serve them both; as for me, I will serve God!

The Government would rather see Charitable Works stop, and those that were helped can do wothout! This is a sad way to look at Freedom!!!!!!!!!! This is what America is about……a great Nation, with wonderful citizens, a love of God and Country!!!!!!!! The Government is destroying iy’s people!!!!!!!!!! This is a great poverty!

Kudos to our Bishops and Cardinals, especially Cardinal Dolan.

I will continue to drive the 2 hour trip with my 14 year old youngest child (of 6) to participate in the next standupforreligiousfreedom.com rally nearest to our home on June 8, as we did for the first on March 23.

I wish that the my diocese (Burlington, VT) would take a more active role in instructing the children in our Catholic Schools regarding what’s at stake here.

My daughter goes to a diocesan school in our town, and, if I had not been instructing her about this and taking her out of school to go to these rallies, she would be absolutely oblivious to the attack on freedom of religion and specifically against our Faith.

We complain that the media has ignored it, but so have our Catholic Schools and our diocesan offices.

Obama has handed us a wonderful opportunity to get our youth engaged in defending the Faith. Kids are enthusiastic! Kids love just causes! Teens and Twenty-somethings who are engaged in defending their Faith against an unjust oppressor are not the ones who are going to drift away from that Faith because it “just doesn’t seem relevant” or it “bores them”.

Why are our diocesan schools ignoring this opportunity to help our kids grow in their Faith by defending it in the public square?
